These are properties established before 1961, with an area of 21.000m2. They maintain agricultural, livestock or forestry operations. Historically, they provided supplementary income for farmers. The property must be older than 1941 with an area of 49.000 m2. It can have up to 25 rooms. Rural hotels are required to provide restaurant services, as well as lodging and breakfast. In Balearic tourism regulations, the philosophy is to equate them with 4 and 5-star hotels.
