Can Lluc is a pioneering establishment in Ibiza and Formentera in terms of caring for the surroundings and the environment.<\/h3>\n

Several centuries ago, this rural hotel located in the heart of Ibiza, was a working farm belonging to the family of the current owner, Lucas Prats, whose original architecture was restored and converted into what we know today as Can Lluc.<\/p>\n

Without losing the Ibicencan essence, the owners keep the history of the place alive and promote the protection of the environment.<\/p>\n

The vision of the company is to contribute through tourism to the conservation and improvement of the 10 hectare estate and the surrounding area, so that future generations can be proud of our legacy.<\/p>\n

This leads us to work on the basis of different values such as: commitment to the planet to conserve and improve what is within our reach. And sustainability in all its aspects: economic, cultural, environmental and social.<\/p>\n

Why is Can Lluc sustainable?<\/h3>\n

Solar Panels<\/h3>\n

Recently, 59,950Wp of solar panels<\/strong> have been installed, a total of 110 solar panels of 545Wp each. In addition, 2 grid inverters<\/strong> of 36kW have been installed, achieving a nominal power of 72kW, with the possibility of extending this installation in the future. The expected generation of this installation is 89.925Wh\/year, representing a saving of up<\/strong> to 75%<\/strong> in the hotel’s consumption during high season. This is equivalent to a reduction in the atmosphere of 20,677kg of Carbon Dioxide, equivalent to having planted 650 trees.<\/p>\n

Water filtration system\u00a0<\/h3>\n

On the other hand, the pool has a water filtering system based on salt electrolysis<\/strong>. This system replaces synthetic chlorine with natural elements such as water and salt. For this purpose, the hotel is supplied with salt from the Salinas de Ibiza<\/strong> salt flats.<\/p>\n

The advantages of this system are numerous, since by avoiding the use of chemicals, the water is not harmful. On the contrary, the bath is very pleasant due to the slight salty taste and the sensation of well-being on the skin.<\/p>\n

Fire prevention and storage<\/h3>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n

Can Lluc is located in a beautiful valley, between s’Atalaya de Sant Rafel and es Coll den Lluc, an area of high ecological value, on a 10 hectare estate surrounded by lush pine forests.<\/p>\n

The commitment of the property with the maintenance of this beautiful environment is high.<\/p>\n

In 2018, in collaboration with Ibanat<\/strong> and the Associaci\u00f3 de Propietaris Forestaris d’Eivissa, APFE<\/strong>, a fire fighting tank<\/strong> was installed in order to be able to fight the large fires that have ravaged the island in the past with more infrastructure, resulting in greater efficiency and speed of action.<\/p>\n

The care of the lush landscaping, the pruning of the palm trees by qualified external personnel, the annual cleaning of the estate and the undergrowth to prevent the accumulation of waste and excessive vegetation that could pose a fire hazard, etc., are just some of the maintenance work carried out on a regular basis.<\/p>\n

Products Km0<\/span><\/p>\n

The restaurant’s menu features a wide variety of local produce<\/strong>, mostly from the neighbouring farms. In this way the Can Lluc restaurant offers quality dishes and at the same time contributes to the promotion of small local businesses.<\/p>\n

The agritourism cultivates different fruit trees, among which the olive tree stands out, whose fruit gives rise to the delicious EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) that all the guests and friends of Can Lluc like so much and which can be enjoyed in the restaurant of the agritourism.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Plastics reduction<\/span><\/p>\n

The hotel aims to implement a “Plastic Free” policy.<\/p>\n

It is already a reality to reduce the use of plastic, sorting waste for recycling and raising awareness, with the aim of mitigating pollution and reducing the environmental footprint. In this line, in 2022 all single-use amenities were eliminated from the rooms and replaced by sustainable and ecological products.<\/p>\n

Awareness<\/h3>\n

For the management of Can Lluc it is very important to make the whole community aware of responsible and sustainable consumption, involving not only the management and employees, but also encouraging collaborators and clients, as well as public administrations, to take a proactive attitude.<\/p>\n

Recognitions<\/h3>\n

Can Lluc undergoes regular audits, the results of which endorse the good work carried out by the agritourism. In addition, the establishment has joined the Integral System of Quality in Destination, SICTED, managed by the Balearic Government’s Ministry of Tourism. These certificates translate into small actions which, when added together, result in numerous benefits for the environment.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, in 2021, the boutique hotel selection club Rusticae distinguished Can Lluc with the Responsible Tourism Seal, based on the good environmental practices carried out in the agrotourism.<\/p>\n
